Ok, to start it off, chances are pretty good that my ancestors did a bunch of “illegal” activities to provide freedom to the the U.S.
I will agree that there is an immigration problem in the U.S. but it is not with the immigrants but with the employers that do not pay the taxes required.รย When I got out of college and looking for a temporary job, one of the more interesting jobs paid just above minimum pay for a quasi – skilled job.รย I asked about taxes and the owner said that it was up to me what I wanted to do.รย That is when I realized that he was probably not the most honest person either (so much for that job).
I think that employers benefit substantially in hiring “illegal” immigrants and though it is up to the individual to pay taxes, I think that the employer should be responsible for at least facilitating the paying of taxes.รย If the taxes are paid, the welfare system will not be “taxed”.รย That is another whole issue where the welfare system is too easy to use.
As for immigrating “legally”… Have you tried it lately?รย For an individual it is not an easy task and then add thousands of individuals immigrating and it would be near impossible for a good portion of them to immigrate.
Finally, to solve one of the big problems which is the social security and welfare issue, why not say that anyone that wants to use the system must be a taxpayer (with rare exception).รย Most welfare users can work at some level and thus pay some form of tax.รย Many should be able to work 40 hrs/wk at minimum wage at least.รย There is a lot of aspects of this but I think that most people can say that many on welfare can work and no one can dispute there are no jobs, at least not in this county (I see a lot of “hiring” signs out).
